Democracy [diˈmäkrəsē] noun ( pl. -cies) | Definition: a system of government by the whole population
Origin: from Greek, dēmos ‘the people’ + kratia ‘power, rule.’
The people of Australia shall have the right to call a national popular referendum on any public issue by collecting a previously agreed number of signatures.
Our right to call a national popular referendum.
We the people of Australia currently do NOT have the right to call a national popular referendum on an important matter of public concern. Denying people such right is not acceptable in a modern democratic society.
The reform proposed here is to establish the right of citizens to introduce their own proposals to be put to binding national popular referendum. An agreed number of supporting signatures must be collected to start these procedures.
This petition is open to the citizens of Australia only.
